Frequently asked questions
Why don’t iPhone photos open on Windows?
iPhones save photos as HEIC by default to save storage, but Windows and many browsers do not support it without add-ons. Converting to JPG makes them work everywhere.
Are my photos uploaded to the internet during conversion?
No. HEIC decoding runs locally in your browser using the libheif library compiled to WebAssembly — the photo never leaves your device.
Do I lose image quality when converting to JPG?
Quality loss is negligible at 90% quality or higher and invisible to the naked eye. If you want a pixel-perfect copy, choose PNG — at the cost of a larger file.
Why does conversion take a few seconds?
HEIC is computationally complex to decode, especially high-resolution photos, so conversion can take one to several seconds depending on your device.
